In this post, I am going to show you how to flash stock firmware to MediaTek (MTK) smartphones using Smartphone Flash Tools (SP flash tools).

MediaTek is one of the biggest production chipsets around the world and it powers many Android smartphones.

Smartphones are always prone to malfunctions and problems most time.

Flashing your phone can help fix those problems and also makes your phone look new in the software aspect.

Before you can be able to flash your MediaTek smartphone, there are some things you’d need.

The requirements:

I will tell you that MediaTek smartphones are one of the easiest to flash if not the easiest out there.

Smartphone Flash Tools (SP flash tools) make the flashing a lot easier.

It’s not as complex as Qualcomm or Spreadrum chipset that sometimes is hard.

First, you will need a PC (Personal computer), you have to get one if you don’t have one.

The second, a good USB cord that can copy files from your phone to the PC or vise-versa.

The third, MediaTek drivers, which compiles, your smartphone driver, VCOM driver, and MediaTek driver.

After downloading those drivers, install them, some might need manual installation.

Make sure you install them properly and then, download and extract Smartphone Flash Tools (SP flash tools) to your PC.

Download the firmware you wish to install, make sure it’s the correct firmware for your phone model, and then extract it.

Ensure there is enough battery on your PC and smartphone to avoid soft brick or hard brick.

That’s all for the requirements. Now to the main event.

How to flash stock firmware to MediaTek (MTK) smartphones

Power off/down your smartphone.

Locate the Smartphone Flash Tools (SP flash tools) you extracted and launch the flash tools.

On Smartphone Flash Tools (SP flash tools), make sure you are on the Download tab to proceed.

Click on scatter-loading to locate the scatter file of the firmware you wish to flash.

Each MediaTek firmware comes with a scatter file that helps table the files to Smartphone Flash Tools (SP flash tools).

If the firmware you downloaded doesn’t have it, you cannot flash it with Smartphone Flash Tools (SP flash tools).

Choose the scatter file and it will load the whole firmware file to the Smartphone Flash Tools (SP flash tools).

Make very sure you untick the preloader option on Smartphone Flash Tools (SP flash tools) to avoid brick.

You can choose to select a download+upgrade option on Smartphone Flash Tools (SP flash tools) if the download option fails.

Click the Download and now, connect your smartphone while still off, and do not attempt to power it on.

The flashing will begin immediately, drop your phone to avoid interrupting the flashing and bricking your phone.

Wait for the flashing to finish.

Now, you can choose to boot your phone to recovery and reset it or just boot it up.

But I’ll recommend booting it to recovery first and resetting it. It can help stop bootloop.

Now your smartphone is back, you can now enjoy your smartphone.
