With its large 6.53-inch display and a robust 4500 mAh battery, the begonia was a true all-rounder. FAQs

Q1. Why must I use SP Flash Tool for this phone and not Mi Flash Tool?
The Redmi Note 8 Pro is powered by a MediaTek Helio G90T chipset. SP Flash Tool is the correct software for flashing MediaTek-based devices. Mi Flash Tool is designed for phones with Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets and will not work with this model.

Q2. Why does the Indian ROM have a different codename (begoniain)?
The Indian variant has minor software and modem configurations optimized for the region. To ensure the best network performance and full VoLTE/VoWiFi compatibility, it is highly recommended to use the dedicated begoniain firmware on an Indian device.

Q3. My phone is hard-bricked. Can SP Flash Tool save it?
SP Flash Tool is extremely effective at recovering bricked MediaTek devices. If the issue is software-related, there’s a high probability of revival. For a completely dead device, you may need an authorized service account or to use the “Test Point” method to force a connection.

Q4. What is an “Engineering Firmware”?
An engineering firmware is a special, low-level factory software not intended for daily use. It’s used by service technicians for advanced repairs, like fixing a lost IMEI number. Flashing it is not recommended for regular users as it lacks many user-facing features.

Troubleshooting

  • Drivers: The most common issue is the PC not detecting the phone. Ensure MediaTek VCOM drivers are installed correctly. If you have problems, try reinstalling them after disabling Windows Driver Signature Enforcement.
  • SP Flash Tool Errors:
    • BROM ERROR → This can be caused by using the wrong ROM, a bad USB connection, or incorrect drivers. Ensure you have the correct begonia/begoniain firmware.
    • Tool doesn’t react after clicking “Download” → Make sure the phone is completely powered off. If it still doesn’t work, try holding Volume Down while connecting the USB cable to force detection.
  • Bootloop after flashing: If the phone boots but gets stuck on the MIUI logo, try booting into recovery (Power + Volume Up) and performing a factory reset (Wipe Data).
