The original Huawei Nova (codename Cannes, models CAN‑L01/L11/L12/L13/AL00/AL10/TL10/TL20) is a compact 5‑inch smartphone built around the Snapdragon 625, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB storage and a 3020 mAh battery, shipping with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and EMUI 4.1, later upgradable to EMUI 5 on Android 7.0. With age and repeated updates, many Nova users face problems such as failed EMUI upgrades, random freezes, touch issues, bootloops and hard‑bricked devices after bad flashes, which often require correct stock firmware and board software to recover.

The Cannes QPST, Dload and board‑repair packages below let technicians and advanced users unbrick dead Nova boards, fix update failures and restore stable EMUI 4.1/5.0 software per region and model.

Flashing Requirements

  1. Windows PC with Qualcomm drivers and Qualcomm Product Support Tools (QPST/QFIL) installed for CAN‑L01/L11/L13 QPST firmware.
  2. Good quality USB‑C cable and, for Dload packages, a FAT32‑formatted microSD card (8–32 GB) to hold the dload/update.app content.
  3. Battery charged to at least 60 % so the Nova does not power off while flashing, which could corrupt critical partitions.
  4. Full backup of user data whenever possible, because QPST and Dload repairs usually wipe apps, accounts and internal storage.
  5. For board‑software and dead‑boot XML packages, experience with test‑point / EDL (9008) mode and service tools is strongly recommended.

How to Flash the Firmware

Method 1 – QPST/QFIL (Qualcomm EDL)

  1. Install Qualcomm drivers and QPST, then extract the desired QPST firmware (for example CAN‑L01 C02B380 or CAN‑L11 C09B330) to a folder on your PC.
  2. Open QFIL, select the correct chipset, load the XML/MBN from the firmware folder, and choose Flat Build or Meta Build as instructed by the package.
  3. Power off the Nova, enter EDL (9008) mode using key‑combination or test‑point if needed, connect USB, and wait for QFIL to detect the port.
  4. Click Download to start flashing and do not disconnect until QFIL reports success, then reboot the device.

Method 2 – Dload (SD‑card) EMUI firmware

  1. Extract the chosen Dload package (for example Cannes‑AL00 C00B368 or CAN‑L12 C409B140) until you see a dload folder or update.app file, then copy it to a dload folder on a FAT32 SD card.
  2. Insert the SD card, power off the phone, then hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power until the Huawei update screen appears and installation begins.
  3. Allow the process to reach 100 % and reboot automatically; first boot may be slow while EMUI optimizes apps and caches.

For a full SD‑card Dload walkthrough, use the Huawei dload flashing guide, and for Qualcomm EDL/QFIL workflows, follow the QPST / Qualcomm Product Support Tools tutorial alongside the exact Cannes package for your model.

❗ Disclaimer: All Huawei Nova (Cannes) firmwares and board packages here are provided “as‑is”. Any data loss, IMEI/baseband issue, bootloop or hard brick that occurs while flashing is solely your responsibility. If unsure, seek help from experienced technicians or community forums before proceeding.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What problems can these Huawei Nova firmwares fix?

Correct Cannes firmware and board XML files can recover many dead‑boot or bootloop cases, fix failed EMUI updates, restore stock software after experiments and resolve some touch or performance glitches caused by corrupted partitions.

What is the difference between QPST and Dload packages?

QPST/QFIL packages use Qualcomm EDL mode for deep repair and model‑specific flashing, while Dload update.app packages install via SD‑card and three‑button combo, mainly for standard system reinstalls and regional upgrades.

Can I cross‑flash a CAN-L01 ROM on CAN-L11 or other variants?

No, cross‑flashing between CAN‑L01/L11/L12/L13/AL00/AL10/TL10/TL20 or mixing CUSTs (C02/C09/C409/C469/C530/C738/C00/C01) can break modem, cause bootloops or hard‑brick the phone.

Will these flashes erase my data?

Yes, both QPST repairs and most Dload flashes wipe user data; always back up your internal storage and accounts whenever the device is still able to boot before flashing.

Can these files upgrade me to EMUI 8 or newer?

The original Nova line officially stops at EMUI 5.x on Android 7.0, and there is no official EMUI 8 firmware for CAN‑series devices, so these files only move you between EMUI 4.1 and 5.x builds, not beyond.

What if EMUI update still fails after flashing?

If OTA updates continue to fail after a clean flash, follow Huawei’s EMUI update‑failure tips (wipe cache/factory reset and use HiSuite where available) or remain on the stable build that works reliably.
