Crucial Warning: This page lists 6 representative builds out of 17 known files across the CUN family. Never attempt to flash an MT6735 firmware package onto an MT6582 CUN-U29 model (or vice versa); processor architecture mismatches trigger DRAM initialization failures. In SP Flash Tool, always select 'Download Only'.

Compatibility & Bootloader Notes
Flashing through the official Huawei dload method or MediaTek SP Flash Tool operates independently of the Android bootloader lock state. Neither procedure requires an unlocked bootloader.
Preparation checklist for Huawei Y5II / Honor 5 (CUN Family)
- Remove the battery and confirm your exact model number (e.g. CUN-L01, CUN-L21, CUN-U29) on the regulatory label.
- Note your software cust code (e.g. C577, C642, C480, C567, C464, C311, C00) from Settings > About phone to ensure modem compatibility.
- For SD card flashing, prepare a microSD card (32GB or less) formatted to FAT32.
- Charge the removable 2200 mAh battery to at least 40% before initiating flashing.
- Install MediaTek USB VCOM drivers on your computer if using SP Flash Tool.
How to Flash Huawei Y5II / Honor 5 (CUN Family)
Huawei dload SD Card Update (Recommended for UPDATE.APP packages)
- Format a microSD card (32GB or smaller) as FAT32 on your computer.
- Create a new folder named "dload" in the root directory of the microSD card.
- Extract your downloaded SD Update firmware package and copy the UPDATE.APP file into the /dload/ folder.

- Press and hold Volume Up, Volume Down, and the Power button simultaneously until the screen illuminates and the EMUI Software Upgrade process begins.
- Wait for the progress bar to complete without touching the phone; the device will automatically reboot upon successful installation.
SP Flash Tool (for scatter-based PC packages)
SP Flash Tool works the same way across thousands of devices from many brands, so the full walkthrough lives on FlashGuideHub. What is specific to Huawei Y5II / Honor 5 (CUN Family) is below.
- Install the MediaTek USB VCOM drivers on your computer and extract SP Flash Tool alongside your firmware package.
- Load MT6735_Android_scatter.txt for 4G models (CUN-Lxx, AL00, TL00) or MT6582_Android_scatter.txt for model CUN-U29.
- Ensure the flash dropdown is set to "Download Only" — selecting "Format All + Download" will permanently erase your calibration and IMEI.
- Power off the phone, pull and reinsert the battery, click Download in SP Flash Tool, and connect the phone to your PC via USB.
- See FlashGuideHub's SP Flash Tool guide for the full walkthrough, connection troubleshooting, and BROM error fixes.
Frequently Asked Questions
If your downloaded package contains an UPDATE.APP file and your phone can still access the recovery mode, use the dload SD card method — it is completely on-device and straightforward. If your device is bootlooping, fails to boot recovery, or your package contains raw scatter and image files, use SP Flash Tool on a computer.
Check the model number on the sticker underneath the removable battery. If the model says CUN-U29, your device is 3G-only and requires MediaTek MT6582 firmware. If the model begins with CUN-L (e.g. CUN-L01, CUN-L21) or is CUN-AL00 / CUN-TL00, your phone is 4G LTE and requires MediaTek MT6735 firmware.
It is strongly recommended to use a 32GB or smaller microSD card formatted to FAT32. Cards 64GB or larger are formatted in exFAT by default, which the Huawei stock recovery bootloader cannot read, resulting in a "Software install failed!" error.
