5Star Z-22 (Z22) Official Stock Firmware Files — Fix Bootloop, Network & Performance Issues

Published:

The 5Star Z-22, also known as 5Star Z22, is a budget-level Android smartphone available in multiple chipset variants — MediaTek MT6572 and Spreadtrum (SPD/UNISOC). Over time, users have reported recurring issues such as bootloops, hanging on logo, missing IMEI, camera failure, random restarts, or complete software corruption after a failed update or flashing attempt.

To address these problems, official firmware packages are now available for download. Each file below restores your Z-22 device back to factory condition, fixing system-related errors, improving performance, and resolving network instability. Because this model exists in both MediaTek and Spreadtrum variants, it is critical to flash the correct file for your specific chipset.

⚠️ Warning for 5Star Z-22 Users

Important: This device was released under different board configurations, and not every “Z-22” ROM fits all units. Flashing the wrong preloader or using the wrong chipset ROM may permanently brick your device or cause it to fail detection on PC. Always confirm your hardware platform first — MediaTek (MT6572) or Spreadtrum (SPD). If unsure, open the phone’s back cover and check the printed motherboard label before proceeding.

Note: The two MediaTek ROMs are interchangeable between MT6572 devices but differ in stability and performance — newer builds typically improve battery calibration and camera compatibility. The SPD ROM is meant exclusively for Spreadtrum hardware and will not boot on MTK variants.

How to Flash the Firmware

Five Quick Steps to Flash the Stock ROM

  1. Identify the chipset: Confirm if your device is MediaTek MT6572 or Spreadtrum SPD. This determines which tool and drivers you’ll use.
  2. Extract the firmware: Unzip the downloaded ROM on your PC. MediaTek firmware should include a scatter file (MT6572_Android_scatter.txt), while SPD firmware contains a .pac file.
  3. Install drivers: – For MediaTek: Install VCOM USB Drivers.
    – For Spreadtrum: Install SPD/Unisoc Drivers.
  4. Load the flashing tool: – MediaTek users → use SP Flash Tool and load the scatter file.
    – Spreadtrum users → use SPD Upgrade Tool (ResearchDownload) and load the .pac file.
  5. Start flashing: Power off the phone, connect via USB, and start the flashing process. Wait for the success message before disconnecting the device.
