The ZTE Blade A7 2020 is a capable entry-level smartphone that offers a modern design with a waterdrop notch display and solid performance for everyday use. It is powered by the octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 (MT6765) chipset and was released in two main configurations: one with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and a higher-tier model with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Flashing the official stock ROM is the best way to fix software issues like bootloops, remove viruses, or restore a device that is locked or unresponsive.
Crucially Important: The firmware files for the 2GB/32GB and 3GB/64GB variants are different. You must download and flash the file that matches your phone’s hardware configuration. Flashing the wrong version will cause the device to brick. This guide provides the files for both variants and a unified flashing guide using SP Flash Tool.

How to Flash (SP Flash Tool)
This method is for restoring the official stock firmware and will erase all data. Make sure you have downloaded the correct file for your RAM/storage variant.
- Install Drivers: Download and extract the MediaTek VCOM drivers. Run the installer. You may need to disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows for the drivers to install correctly.
- Extract Tools & Firmware: Extract the SP Flash Tool and the downloaded firmware .zip file into separate folders on your desktop.
- Launch the Tool: Open the SP Flash Tool folder and run flash_tool.exe as an administrator.
- Load Scatter File: In the “Download” tab, click the “Scatter-loading File” button. Navigate to the extracted firmware folder and select the MT6765_Android_scatter.txt file.
- Select Mode: Ensure the dropdown menu is set to Download Only. Never use “Format All + Download” unless you are an expert, as it can erase your IMEI.
- Start Flashing: Power off your ZTE Blade A7 2020 completely. Click the green Download button in SP Flash Tool, then immediately connect your powered-off phone to the PC with a USB cable. The flashing process will begin.
- Finish: The process will take several minutes. Once a green checkmark appears, the flash is complete. You can disconnect your phone and power it on. The first boot will take longer than usual.
Device-Specific Troubleshooting for Blade A7 2020
- CRITICAL – Wrong Variant Brick: The most common and serious error is flashing the 3GB/64GB firmware on a 2GB/32GB device, or vice-versa. This will cause a mismatch in the partition table and will brick the phone. If this happens, you may need to re-flash the correct ROM using the “Format All + Download” option in SP Flash Tool as a last resort (this will erase your IMEI, which is illegal in some countries and may need to be restored with other tools).
- SP Flash Tool BROM ERROR: This is almost always a driver issue. Ensure your MediaTek VCOM drivers are properly installed. A common fix is to open the Windows Device Manager, connect the powered-off phone, and manually update the driver for the “unknown device” that appears briefly.
- Fixing Google FRP Lock: If you are locked out of your phone after a factory reset due to Google’s Factory Reset Protection (FRP), flashing this stock ROM is a common method to remove the lock. The standard flashing process will completely reset the device and the locked account.
- Tool Doesn’t Start After Connecting Phone: Make sure the phone is completely powered off. If the tool still doesn’t detect it, try holding the Volume Down button while connecting the USB cable to force the connection.
