How to Flash Vivo iQOO Neo 5 SE Firmware: Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps carefully. For a visual reference, consider finding a video guide for the QFIL flashing process.

Step 1: Prepare Your PC and Files

  1. Extract Files: Once downloaded, extract the Firmware, Qualcomm Drivers, and QFIL Tool zip files into the folder you created on your desktop.
  2. Install Drivers: Open the extracted driver folder and run the setup file to install the Qualcomm USB drivers.
  3. Reboot PC: After the driver installation is complete, restart your computer. This is a critical step to ensure the drivers are loaded correctly.

Step 2: Vivo iQOO Neo 5 SE PD2157 into EDL Mode

EDL (Emergency Download) mode allows the PC to communicate directly with your phone’s chipset for flashing.

  1. Power Off: Turn off your Vivo iQOO Neo 5 SE completely.
  2. Press & Hold: Press and hold both the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons simultaneously.
  3. Connect to PC: While still holding the volume buttons, connect your phone to the PC with the USB cable.
  4. Verify Connection: Your phone’s screen will remain black, which is normal. On your PC, open Device Manager. Look under the “Ports (COM & LPT)” section. You should see a device named “Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008”. If you see this, the connection is successful, and you can release the volume buttons. If not, repeat the driver installation and this step.

Step 3: Configure the QFIL Tool

  1. Launch QFIL: Navigate to the extracted QFIL folder and double-click QFIL.exe to run the program.
  2. Check Port: The QFIL tool should automatically detect your phone and display “Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008” at the top.
  3. Select Build Type: Ensure that “Flat Build” is the selected Build Type.
  4. Load Programmer: Click the “Browse…” button. In the window that opens, navigate to your extracted firmware folder and select the programmer file, which typically looks like prog_emmc_firehose_...mbn.
  5. Load XML Files: Click the “Load XML…” button. You will be prompted to select two files in sequence from the firmware folder:
    • First, select the rawprogram_unsparse.xml file and click “Open”.
    • Next, select the patch0.xml file and click “Open”.

Step 4: Begin the Flashing Process

  1. Review: Double-check that the port is detected and all files are loaded correctly in QFIL.
  2. Start Flashing: Click the blue “Download” button to begin the firmware installation.
  3. Be Patient: The process will take 5-15 minutes. You can monitor the progress in the status bar. DO NOT disconnect the phone or interrupt the process for any reason.

Step 5: Completion and First Boot

  1. Wait for Success: The process is finished when the status log shows a “Download Succeeded” or “Finish Download” message.
  2. Disconnect: You can now safely disconnect your phone from the PC.
  3. Power On: Press and hold the Power button to turn on your device.
  4. First Boot: Be patient, as the first boot after flashing can take several minutes (up to 10-15 minutes) while the new system is being set up. Your phone will then boot to the initial setup screen.
